This is the culture problem I mentioned. Procedure and orders often outweigh common sense.

The corps consider themselves "keepers of the spirit and guardians of tradition" of A&M, but IMO, they tend to devote themselves so forcefully to the latter that they often end up unintentionally undermining the former. And I believe exactly that mentality is the root cause of what happened yesterday.

I hope that shortly A&M will release a statement of apology and take responsibility for a mistake rather than circle the wagons.
