My 15 y/o son and I are driving up to Knoxville Sat. morning for the game. Neither of us have been there before. Anyone have some good suggestions on parking, food, and taking in everything on gameday? Thank you very much! RDT

2607 Kingston pike for parking is usually pretty easy to get in and get out and you can just walk down the strip plenty of food there.

I'm seeing this late, I'll try to type you up something tomorrow while I'm at work. I have been living up here for eight years now.

Knoxville is a pretty cool town to stay in.
Haven't been in years so I can't recommend much, but definitely check out the Vol Navy area while you are there. It's a unique tailgating area in SEC Country.
Wish we could incorporate something similar off the Black Warrior River.

Yes, got them in the nosebleeds this summer at $170 each thinking UT would be 3-2 and it might be a good game. I had NO IDEA they would be undefeated and this would be one of the biggest games of the year!

that would be huge.. Thank you KILGUS!

Make sure you both wear your lucky shirts and we'll be good. Hope y'all have a great time. Some of my best experiences at Alabama games have been away from Tuscaloosa.

Thanks Saint. Been a huge fan since 1989 and have never been to Neyland before.. Have seen the UT game at Denny 5 times.I remember most when Kamara almost single handedly beat us! That was a nail biter...
Unfortunately I wanted to show him the UT checkerboard. However, they are doing an "orangeout". so that will be neat too. I hope it ends up like the UGA blackout

Is it wrong that I'm mad Tennessee has this cool arse opportunity at their disposal and no one in the SEC can say the same?

No. I've made that trip from Florence multiple times and it was awesome.
Just appreciate it.
Coolest dudes in the TSIO are boating, drinking and enjoying each other and the game.
Best "tailgating" in the SEC

alright, so your most interesting places to eat are going to be downtown at an area called Market Square. It won't be easy getting food to eat anywhere outside of fast food this weekend. The down town area is going to have great food and things to see. Some reccomendations I would make are as follows in no particular order:
FOOD
-Down Town Grill and Brewery
-Soccer Taco (this has always been my go to if everything else is slammed)
-Not Watson's
-Tomato Head Pizza
-Tupelo Honey
-Nama sushi
-Sweet P's Downtown Dive bbq (this is the only one on the list not located on the same city block. It's a few blocks away and was featured on "Man vs Food" and known for their bbq burrito)
-Cruze Farm dairy for ice cream is a must if you have the time. Their lines can sometimes wrap around the building
-Myrtle's Chicken
-If by some miracle you can actually get seated in a respectable time, Crate and Barrel is famous for their burgers, but the place is very small and extremely popular
-bars will not be difficult to come by in this area. Scruffy City Hall is the coolest one imo
You really can't go wrong with anything on Market Square, it all depends on the amount of time you allot yourself.
PARKING
I don't have a ton of options here to offer because I've only ever done it one way. If you decide to go downtown to Market Square, There is a very large parking garage called State Street Garage. It is located behind the Regal Riviera movie theater. It is free parking on the weekend. When you are downtown, they are constantly running shuttles and buses to campus. What I have always done is just walk from down town. If you walk without stopping, it can take 25-30 minutes. If you have time, it's a great sight-seeing path too. You get to walk through historic down town, then make it to the historical World's Fair Park -home of the sunsphere- and from World's Fair Park, you can take a walking path to Volunteer Landing, which is a beautiful river walk where you will find the Vol Navy partying on the river. At this point, you're just a few minutes from the stadium. Maybe someone else has some parking options to offer, this is just the way I have always done it and enjoyed it. There are some other payed parking decks and lots downtown if State Street is full. You then have access to shuttles or you can take that scenic walk. Here is a walking Google Map link that includes the detour to the Vol Navy.
Scenic Route
I hope you enjoy it. Knoxville has been an amazing place to live.

Cumberland is where all the college bars are and some good food. The Vol Navy is cool and there’s a Calhoun’s on the River. It’s pretty good. The Fort is where all the tailgating is and is where I’ll be. If you wanna go of campus. The Old City and Market Square have really good food but it’ll probably be a nightmare getting back to campus. Parking wise you can usually get in by the baseball stadium but it fills up kinda early especially on a big game. Unfortunate truth is Knoxville hasn’t had a game this big in a long time so parking and getting around on campus is gonna be tough in general. If you need anything just message me on here. I live here and should be on campus most of the day Saturday.

No suggestions outside of be prepared to be cramped beyond belief in your seats! Smallest damn seats in any stadium. When BAMA passed them several years ago in capacity, the Vile PTB went back and “recounted/reconfigured seating in that dump to bump their capacity above ours. They pulled up stickers, measured out every 14-16” and slapped new stickers down. Stadium sucks!!

Thank you. Once we park we will be walking. Not going to worry about shuttles. Where is the fort? I would like to show him some tailgating.
