ESPN couldn’t put a game in the same night time slot when CBS does their prime time game. They could’ve, however, put the game on SEC network at the 6-6:30 time slot and gotten away with it, but thought viewership would be higher on ESPN at the 11 AM slot. Money rules. Sucks bc I wanted this game at night or at least 2:30, but it’s the price you pay to get big TV deals. Sometimes game times are less than optimal.

CBS wants the #1 team on any time possible. That's why UGA is going to be on at 2:30. It's really that simple.
Bingo. The OP went into detail about tradition, viewership, rivalry..........yada yada.
They chose Georgia Auburn for the exact reason you stated. UGA is # 1 right now. IF LSU or Tennessee was # 1 it wouldve been flip flopped. Also apparently Georgia schedule is pure shite the rest of the way too, so that helped them make the decision.
