Napier said no. The boosters wanted a smooth transition instead of burning the house down and wanted Steele until Saban retired. Green went on his own and hired Harsin. The pedigree was there. The understanding of how the SEC works wasn’t there for ADAG or Harsin.

i did not know this piece. so they just wanted to mail it in for ~5 more years? what would their plan be once he retired?
