More likely we keep him for 3-5 more seasons, possibly give him an extension, and end up firing him after back to back losses to Texas and LSU.

If Jimbo lays an egg this season and next, he'll be gone. My guess is the team will improve in some ways this year. We don't have a QB who can handle the pressure yet. That's what I watch for in the first game of every season. Does the QB look good?
What is this, the third year that Jimbo does not have the team ready to play at the start of a season?

By the way, Max Johnson has experience starting in the SEC. I suspect he will start very soon.

Agreed. Zero chance we keep him 3+ years if we have a bad season this year and next. If we go 6-6 or 7-5 this year and something similar, even 8-4 next, he will be gone. They will find the money and hire someone new.

Y’all underestimate how much money some of these donors have and their desire to finally have a good football team.

As cringy as it was, there was a reason they gave him the stupid national championship trophy with the 20–, and it’s not to go 8-4 or worse 3 seasons in a row.
