Is 6th Street or 6th Avenue still a thing? I was at a conference out that way many moons ago sponsored by DELL and he rented the whole street. I didn't drink back then but there were several micro breweries that my buddy hit up and plenty of good food. Talked to Michael Dell for a good bit.

Whoa, nice. Yep, 6th Street is the main entertainment district in Austin; our version of Beale St. It can get pretty rowdy but also a lot of fun, if that's your cup of tea.

A couple of other things to do while here:

LBJ's presidential library/museum is fantastic:

And there's the Blanton Museum of Art:

Both are around the UT campus/stadium so pretty easy to get to.

Getting to 6th street is the issue, and there is a lot of construction in the area. The area around campus has a lot of junkies and homeless types
