He was in and out but I think scheme wise he doesn’t play much nickel or dime.

He was listed as the starting DE. Hardly played. A bit odd.

Honestly, I don't think there was a rostered player who didn't play. I was struck by the names I did not recognize.

Never seen so many players rotated through so early under Saban.

Not even looking a defense, but we saw 3 x QBs, 6 x different players get running calls (not counting our QB with 100+ rushing yards), 11 receivers get catches (7 with at least 2 receptions).

All against a non-P5 defending conference champ returning a lot of talent.

It was a good showing. Building depth through reps. Love it

I thought I saw Damon Payne in for a snap late in the game, but I haven't watched the whole game again to verify. Definitely played a lot of guys. Seems like they let the backups run the offense more than in the past, too. I know he limits them sometimes for various reasons, but game experience running the full offense could pay off later.

7 snaps definitely isn't much but we were rotating a lot of guys in and the game was in hand. Possibly he got nicked up and there was just no reason for him to go back out there?

I'm hoping he gets more opportunities against the Longhorns for sure. Very disruptive player.
