This is from an OSU insider who spoke to the father of a number of top players ...

quote:

"Said the main difference was "At Alabama---its ALL about football--developing your son---winning NC's--getting to the league. And getting paid via NIL in the mean time. Period. End. Not saying it was better or worse, but it couldn't have been more different"

The next time I'm recruited by a national-level university will be the first, so I have no inside view on this. Having said that, this doesn't jibe at all with what we've heard from multiple recruits, players, and coaches for more than a decade.

From what I understand, Saban (and the rest of the support staff) place a HUGE emphasis on equipping players to succeed in life, not just in football. Alabama has hosted a who's-who of nationally recognized motivational and life-experience speakers over the years. Heck, earlier this week the Today Show did a five-minute segment on how Alabama helps players deal with mental stress.

I'm sure the recruiting pitch would be tailored to suit a particular player's interests, but I find it hard to believe it's as single-minded (especially on NIL) as that quote would suggest.
