With Harsin’s seat being hot I’m curious how they handle it. Do you go ahead and make a move so the AD has time to get his feet wet for a few months before they have to potentially hire the most important hire they will make, or do you take that hire out of their hands and go the search committee route again.

My guess that decision depends entirely on who you’re able to get and how far down your wishlist you have to go.

I can't recall a Power 5 AD making a move during one of the major sports seasons, so I was thinking from that perspective. I don't think it will come to this, but you can always use a search firm to backchannel coach's agents through the AU Presidents office. It seems pretty obvious he's going to be interested and involved in athletics, unlike Gouge.

As I said earlier, I’m almost positive it will be Tim Jackson. They went in-house for President and will do again for AD. PTB want to keep things close to home. So, with Jackson already there, they can time the announcement whenever, but he can still be working on the next Auburn head coach.

I also wouldn’t totally rule out them bringing JJ back home.
