Many within ND feel that it was indeed BK's personal ceiling at ND but not the program's. And that a more active recruiter at HC could recruit the necessary talent to bridge the current talent gap.

There may be some truth to that, but BK built a hell of a recruiting staff here and he salvaged the 2022 class into 6th overall. He's doing well with 2023 also.

I understand Notre Dame has to cast a wider net, and Freeman may just be a better man for the job now.

I think most rational LSU fans recognize that parts of Kelly's job that he wasn't so great at in South Bend will not be as much of a factor in Baton Rouge. Cornerbacks and wide receivers grow on trees here. You can damn near keep a 3 deep filled on skill positions and dline between the Florida panhandle and Houston, and recruit nationally for OL, QB, TE.

I think that's a very fair assessment of the situation and one of the two major factors in Kelly's decision to move to the Bayou. The other being that his contract at ND was c. $7.5m pa through 2024 (and the ND AD refused to increase or extend it without a national championship trophy), and LSU offered $95m in total through 2032.
