I'm not sure it's easy as you're pretending. Gotta have scholarship athletes in other sports, which means leaving their conference. They don't average enough patrons a game now to move up. Playing a brand new cast of unknowns might not be the best way to boost attendance figures either. Unless they plan on going independent, you kinda need a sponsor conference. It's a multi year venture to move up.
