There was a track meet in Eugene and graduation in Corvallis. The hotels were booked well in advance. It really wasn't OSU's fault, it was the NCAA's fault. The hotels were already booked before the Super Regional site was known. Don't host where you know accommodations are going to be booked up.

I'm sure it was a pain to do those three round trip bus rides, but it wasn't the end of the world and it didn't stop Auburn from winning a hard fought series.
