Only 6 does sting at times. But baseball is baseball. Moving backward from the present we had good chances last year, 2009 (props to LSU) and 2004 really stings even though we avenged it the next year. 2004 being the Fullerton loss when they just really found a way to get us despite us probably being the best team that year. 2004 team may have been better than the 2002 and 2005 title teams.

Ole Miss didn't deserve to have Texas in their super regional in 05 - both were legit top 5 teams and should have both been in Omaha.

Not gonna piss and moan about bad metaphorical bounces this way and that way through the years but 1985 will forever be loathed since CBS decided they were going to change the finals format. Wichita State beat us having lost a game, we hadn't - and there's no way they were going to win a second with the pitcher we would have had.

Most Texas fans want that 7th dogpile badly. Nobody is fooling anybody - we'd love to break the 6-6 tie with LSU and with all those appearances it's understandable to want more natties in the trophy case.

It's not just USC that has fallen into irrelevance - the 90's and turn of the century it wasn't unusual to have a lot of west coast teams involved - Pepperdine, Irvine, Long Beach, Fullerton - oddly enough it's the pacific northwest with OSU and rising teams such as Gonzaga who are taking their place. Stanford is the only one who really remains quite consistent.
