Well, they sorta do to an extent.

No they don't. The BCS chose to vacate USC's championship, not the NCAA. There is a difference.

When USC’s 2004 season was vacated in 2009 or so, it meant that the BCS Championship game was also vacated.

What college football fan does not recognize USC as the 2004 national champions outside of us Auburn fans? None. Also, the AP still recognizes USC as the 2004 champs...just as they would LSU in 2019.

The BCS established a precedent by nullifying the trophy with that game, and since the CFP is the successor organization to the BCS (for a all practical legal purposes, they are the same organization),

The BCS set a precedent FOR THE BCS! The CFP can do whatever they want. And, they are not, in this purpose, the same organization.

it would be logical for the CFP to follow that precedent.

Now, you just lost your argument with this statement...when has college football ever used logic to determine a national champion?

Trust me, as an Auburn fan, I am extremely familiar with the 2004 USC situation. Tommy Tuberville was completely correct when he stated in 2010 that the only way to really have USC vacate the title would be for another team to be declared national champions (Auburn or OU in this case). Not everyone would accept it, but there would be some team not named USC that could claim the title that year. Not naming a replacement is not really doing anything. Most every college football fan recognizes USC as the 2004 champs.
