Real Answer: Lots of people believe the god awful but unproven allegations are consistent enough with the also awful uncontested facts to justify a permanent blacklisting.

the vast majority of the reporting during the scandal was not remotely concerned with providing Baylor or Briles the benefit of the doubt, and in order to save itself Baylor chose not to defend Briles, their AD, or their President. They were all sacrificed. We will never truly know to what extent this was justified because most of the accusations that went to court were civil claims against the school that were settled and the details of the settlements are not public.

at this point, the veracity of the claim that Briles is the worst is no longer being evaluated. His name comes up and the pitchforks come out.
