Bowden, Bryant, Paterno, and Osborne surely have to be higher than that. They coached so much longer than Saban.

I did the Bear's record. He would have 540 points placing him at #16

1950. Kentucky #7 (19 points)
1951. Kentucky #15 (11 points)
1952. Kentucky #20 (6 points)
1953. Kentucky #16 (10 points)
1955. aTm #17 (9 points)

Joe Paterno: 569 points
Bobby Bowden: 459
Tom Osborne: 452

Average points per season:
Saban - 393 - 26 seasons - 15.1 per season
Bear - 540 - 38 seasons - 14.2
Joe Paterno: 569 points - 46 seasons - 12.3
Bobby Bowden: 459 - 44 seasons - 10.4
Tom Osborne: 452 - 25 seasons - 18.1

One thing to note, Osborne (like Paterno) only coached at one location, and never had to rebuild. Nebraska's three seasons before he took over as the head coach were:
1970 - #1, 11-0-1
1971 - #1, 13-0
1972 - #4, 9-2-1

In contrast:
Alabama, three years before Saban:
2004 - 6-6
2005 - #8, 10-2
2006 - 6-7

FSU, three years before Bowden:
1973 - 0-11
1974 - 1-10
1975 - 3-8

Penn State, three years before Paterno:
1963 - #16, 7-3
1964 - #14, 6-4
1965 - 5-5

Alabama, three years before Bryant:
1955 - 0-10
1956 - 2-7-1
1957 - 2-7-1

(These don't include the rebuilding jobs that Bryant and Saban did at Kentucky/Texas A&M and Michigan State/LSU, respectively)
