For years my company had a large plant in Fayetteville and during the 90s I took a group of employees from there to an Arkansas NCAA Regional game in Winston-Salem, NC. Suffice it to say, never have I been more embarrassed than that afternoon being among that "we-uns don't get out much" group. Despite beating the sh*t out of their overmatched opponent, they yelled and screamed insults at the officials and other team the entire game. So, why not learn to win with class and sh*t-can the contrived Arkansas air of superiority. After all, if not for Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods, the state would rival a quasi-third world country. In the end, Auburn played like sh*t tonight without their starting point guard in front of a hostile crowd reminiscent of the aforementioned group. Yet, despite it all, the game still went into OT and next week Auburn will still be ranked near the top, So, show some class and enjoy the win like the thousands who rushed the court thinking the local beer distributor was giving away $1 dollar off coupons for Keystone Light 15 packs.

This is how you melt kids. If your tissue soft employees can’t bear to hear fans raising hell for their team, make sure to only take them to the friendly confines of Auburn arena. Don’t take too many employees though, a high school basketball court fills up fast. You may not be entertained, or even impressed with the basketball played there, but you can rest assured that you won’t hear any vulgarity or excessive noise from the genteel, cultured attendees.

Bud Walton Arena opened in 1994 at a construction cost of $30 million (half paid for by Sam Walton.

Auburn "high school" Arena opened in 2010 at a construction cost of $86 million.

In the end, don't be hating on those of us who prefer FIRST CLASS quality over TOURIST CLASS quantity. Case-in-point: The Georgia Dome opened 2 years before Bud Walton at a construction cost of $220 million. However, it was deemed obsolete as a world class sporting/entertainment venue and was demolished in 2017 soon after its replacement -- the $1.6 BILLION dollar Mercedes Benz Stadium -- opened its doors with 10,000 fewer seats.

It's a new day Plato -- one in which large capacity, cheaply built arenas aren't anything to brag about.
