That was certainly the Bama take in 2017.....

I certainly do not speak for the entirety of the Alabama fanbase but it would be important to note that Alabama only won a national title in 2017 and didn’t compete for the SEC title in the SECCG. Georgia fans ought to be proud of their 2017 title. That’s my opinion and always has been but it is fun to jab at Auburn fans about how their Iron Bowl win didn’t matter. That’s just what you do to your in-state rival friends.

Yes, but pretending that each championship carries the same weight is Professional Strength Intellectual Dishonesty.

Or a flailing attempt at coping.

Take your pick.

I think there is a third way you’re ignoring here which is Alabama did win a championship game against Georgia in 2021 so diminishing the quality of this Alabama squad is a befuddling angle for a Georgia fan to take.

Look at it this way - Imagine in the wake of the loss of the 2017 Championship game, UGA was crowing about winning the SEC.

Would that have looked positively retarded, given that they just played in the CFP title game and came up short in the effort?

Yes, yes it would've. Which is why we didn't do it, and took the L.

I’m not playing a victim. I don’t speak for the entirety of my school’s fanbase. I’m proud of what the 2021 Alabama squad accomplished and tip my hat to the 2021 Georgia team for what they accomplished.

Saban is the best there is and has ever been. That being said, he is a bit more gentle and appreciative of his successes and relationships. I think he will still continue to win more than his fair share but he was 1-2 vs former assistants this year after never losing a game. Kind of reminds me of Tiger Woods, Rhonda Rousey etc losing their air of invincibility.

Javon Wimms alone made a difference when he was hurt at half.

THIS. And DeAndre Walker (The guy that hurt Tua) going out of the 2018 SECCG was not good. Maybe he would have hurt Hurts as well. Anyway, he was UGA's best pass rusher that year.

This entire thread is a Georgia fan who is upset because apparently an Alabama fan felt the team would have done better with these 2 players.

I get it. I felt UGA could have done better with Sony, Swift and Mims for the 2nd half of the 2017 NC Game

Actions speak louder than words. You made this thread because you were upset about an Alabama fan saying those things.

If you weren't upset, you wouldn't make such a dumb thread.

Yeah, I don't care for the what if game myself. What happened was Alabama won it in 2017 and Georgia won it in 2021.

It's not like either team is trying to pretend like they are beating the greatest versions ever of the other team, the way LSU fans try to do 2019. So I don't see what it really matters.

At the end of the day, Dawg fans are confident we aren't going anywhere. We KNOW Saban will keep the Tide in the hunt.

It should be a foregone conclusion that at a bare minimum, until Saban retires, if both teams handle their business, we'll be meeting at the Benz, first Saturday each December, and potentially after that, too, just like the '21 season.

We may as well accept that, and learn to live with each other in the meantime.
