In the big game we could not have rushed LBs as much. We would have been more prepared for their run game and that would have opened up play action passes and the deep ball.

Just my opinion. There is no way to know for sure, but typically a strong running game opens the passing game more. You don't have to be totally successful in the run game, either. Just have enough to make the defense respect it more.
