I don't think the discrepancy is that big between the divisions. Alabama obviously changes the dynamic, the West is usually a little better. Some of our more traditional top teams like UF and UT are down.

I still think aTm, Auburn or Arky would've had the same record this year had they played in the East.

Go back 5 years, then 10 years. Two of the better historical programs in the East have suffered some of their lowest points in the last 30 years. It has allowed UK to improve its program, but that is just another sign of the issue. Since the start of the CFP, teams that have been in the TOP 4 in the CFP Polls at some point:

West:
Alabama
Auburn
LSU
MSU
Ole Miss

A&M was as high as 5th in the Poll

East:
UGA
