Their coach is a good one and they're no NC contender but no joke either, imo.

They are a much faster team than I originally thought.
Bobby Johnson is also a very good coach IMO.
I honestly don't think they are a "joke" at all...

I checked up on Vandy.
The last time they consecutively defeated three SEC teams was 1991, when they beat Georgia, Ole Miss and Kentucky. Their season record was 5-6-0.
The last time they started their season 5-0 was 1941, when they defeated Purdue, Tennessee Tech, Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Princeton. Their season record was 8-2-0.
The last time they won five straight against I-A teams was 1921, when they defeated Mercer, Kentucky, Texas, Tennessee, and the Gumps. Their season record was 7-0-1.
So they have Mississippi State, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, and Tennessee left to play. Any of those teams can beat them and most probably will. Still, one never knows.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the play against Florida & Georgia. They've gotta go to Athens to play the Dawgs in 2 weeks but they get the Gators at home the same day we play Alabama. If they could win one of those two that would be huge for their program.

i'll take that bet
Other than the names on the helmets, tell me how Vanderbilt is so clearly overmatched by UGA and UF.

they have a legit chance to go 11-1

I saw most of the game last night and what seemed different about this Vandy team was the fact that they appeared to get stronger late in the game. The "good" Vandy teams in the recent past would be able to hang with the upper echelon SEC teams for 2-3 quarters and would then lose the games late. I still think that they'll lose 2, maybe 3, games but who knows?

I noticed this as well. The depth that Johnson has on this team has altered my opinion of the Commodores. They have the necessary speed and some depth, no different from most other SEC teams at this point (except their SAT scores).
