I will say Indiana is one of the most boring states I've ever traveled in. Only Kansas is worse.
Farmland, farmland, small town that has seen better decades, farmland. I am sure there is gorgeous scenery in the state but I sure as hell didn't drive through it. The people there were okay, not Southern friendly but not New York City jackass either.
I know that describes a lot of the South but usually there are least some interesting hills or trees or something to break the monotony of it all.

Southern indiana has the hills and trees. Even some skiing in the winter. Not Rocky Mountain skiing by any stretch of the imagination, but enough yo have fun for a weekend.
