Whatever holiday you celebrate around this time, I wish you mfers a safe and happy one. Personally, I'm your average Southern churchgoer, but some of the Winter Solstice traditions the church repressed are quite interesting.

Wassailing, for example, seems like an awfully good time -- a crowd goes up to a rich guy's house, and sings "give us alcohol and desserts or we will drag you out in the street"

We should get back to that.

There was a similar tradition when I was in pilot training. You'd go to an instructor pilot's house or someone in your class's house and climb on the roof. You'd stomp on the roof until they hosted you for adult beverages. You'd climb down and drink them dry.
