My understanding is it is his non throwing shoulder and he already had surgery so he was out for the game anyway. That makes sense and actually benefits the team in a way. If he was leaning towards a transfer anyway and wasn't playing in the bowl then freeing up his spot now helps for planning.

He'll get a shot somewhere. A guy with a cannon arm and a Bama win on the resume will have some options.
