This is an article in a Michigan newspaper. The comments section is pretty interesting.

Paragraph 4 will cause the equivalent of a nuclear war on here.

Here I'll do it Scoop

"No, the best coach may be Saban, who never had one of those pinnacle college jobs until Alabama, with due respect to Michigan State and Louisiana State, both of which had distant-past heydays when Saban restored them, to different degrees."

No doubt Saban is a great coach. If he would have stayed at LSU all LSU fans would be praising him like we did when he was here. But I also think Les is just as good, at coaching and recruiting.

Well LSU does not have tradition that Bama has. Therefore coaching at USC, ND, Bama are considered the pinnacle to college football fans. Depending on your alliance will depend on what you think pinnacle job would be.

LSU just did not have history, tradition that Bama but for past 10 years LSU has been carving out a pretty nice history to look back on in 50 years.

Hey, I'm not arguing that he's not a great coach. He absolutely is. All I was saying is if you are going to list the schools that he drug out of the gutter, list Bama too. Is that not a fair statement?

Leftover chicken stew, by the way.

People write stuff like this because they know people like us would go crazy for it on the message boards.

The writer is entitled to his opinion, but LSU is a national power now. And yes, we can thank Saban for that. But Miles has done an equally good job for keeping that going. We've won 2 titles in 5 years, and arguably been perhaps the dominant program of the SEC since 2001.

It would take a meltdown of epic proportions for LSU to return to mediocrity at this point with the way recruiting is going. And as long as you have recruiting, you will win. If anything Bama's current success is proving that.

That hurts, but I could give two shits about what this guy says.

However, when Alabama and MSU can establish an athletic prgram that does more than win in gymnastics and football, then they can be an LSU, with all do respect.

Saban would not be happy to know you are thinking of dinner. You should be thinking of what you are going to eat in the next 20 minutes. Then think about how you are going to PREPARE dinner before you execute it.

But dessert will be a little debbie cookie if your dinner execution is done well.

One more thought on this. Sometimes, maintaining success is just as hard, if not harder than achieving it in the first place. Once you have reached the top of the mountain, people expect you to stay there, and everyone is gunning for you. Which is why I get annoyed by people giving all of LSU's success to Saban.

Awesome. You have the bowl of oranges that they will pass out when Bama goes to Miami for the Orange Bowl. We'll pass you by on your way out of town as we are arriving for the BCS Championship Game.
