Alabama is 8-3 in the last SEC/National title games. the games that really matter. In every game, they stifled or kept the running game below that team's average. Whether the QB won or lost the game they had to throw a minimum of 30-40 attempts, including last weekend. Obviously, that is not our offenses MO.
Well, why look at the games Bama won? The games they lost, the opposing team played good defense, made stops, kept the game from being a high scoring game, established a running game, and stopped Bama from a bunch of big plays. The only real exception is the game we lost in OT 26-23 . Perhaps the real formula for success is to not let Bama play their game.

Bama literally scored 30+ points in every postseason loss except 2019 to Clemson in the CFP era

So, what is the definition of a shootout? Thinking 40 plus points is a shootout.
Looks to me the key to beating them is not getting into a chuck fest.

We haven't surpassed 30 points against Bama since 2003.
30+ points is the line where I consider a game a shootout if both teams surpass that number.

How do we explain Bama losing to Clemson 44-16 with Heisman QB and receivers and 3 NFL first round pick QBs on the roster?

Trevor Lawrence. Even though they won every game Kelly Bryant started that year Dabo switched to the better QB.

Was he like a defensive end that year?

Obviously Clemson defense shut down Bama after they were rolling. Had a pick 6 in there.
Sure helped the Clemson Def didn't have three quick 3 and outs in a row. Their Def didn't have to keep running back on the field before they hardly got their helmet off.
Does Clemson win if they stick with Bryant at QB?

Who had 3 quick 3 and outs?

We did. 2nd Qtr.

So you think a Defensive end has as much to do with the final score as the QB?

Austin Patreon was incorrect on that among things.
The 2nd quarter began with UGA finishing an 8 play, 97 yard drive to go up 10-0
Bame goes 75 yards on 3 plays for a TD (UGA does not make a stop on 3rd and 2 and gets torched for a TD)
UGA 3 and out ( UGA fails to convert on 3rd and 3 to AD Mitchell)
Bama goes 80 yards in 6 plays torching us with big pass plays and no QB pressure. 10-14
UGA 3 and out ( runs for 5 yards in 1st down and then gets two pass plays blown up)
Bama has 12 play drive where they start to run against us and gain big yards. FG 10-17
UGA strikes back with a 6 play 75 yard drive. UGA gets 2 PI for us and one holding against us. 17-17
Bama has 9 play 75 yard drive. Scores with 36 seconds left. 24-17
Austin Patreon is good at X and Os, but the facts did not fit his narrative. The defense needed to make a stop. They did not. If they make just 1 stop in the second quarter, we go into halftime tied.
After resting for 20 minutes, defense comes out and lets Bama go up by 2 scores on a 6 play drive getting torched by the long ball again.

Did the Clemson QB hold Bama to 16 points? The Heisman Bama QB?

You know what the dumbest part of this whole thing is?
Coming into this game, the narrative was that Saban was done and ready to be put out to pasture. Kirby was going to take the reigns of college football from Saban. And it all hinged on this one game, that most of the experts predicted Georgia to win.
Pause.
Think about this, re-read that paragraph again. It's worth reading twice.
That was the mentality, that was the zeitgeist across the college football landscape nationally, from fans and experts alike, less than 7 days ago.
What a crock of shite that was right?
Now, instead of people simply getting reality-checked, level-set, or taking a more reasonable closer look at things, they (pundits and experts included) are doing the exact same thing they did before, but in the completely opposite direction.
"Kirby Smart and QB's blah blah"
"Kirby handcuffing the offense blah blah"
"Kirby stuck in 2005 blah blah"
"Kirby can't coach and make adjustments blah blah"
Spewing bullshite... but "this time, we're right, this time, we know."

Honestly, I don't think people would be losing their minds as much if this played out even like 2020s mathcup. In other words, we fought hard, looked good for a half, but simply gave out of steam against a better team. I think people could live with that.
What is just mind boggling to accept is that our coaches watched 12 games of film on our own defense, one fo the best historically in CFB hitsory, also watched 12 games of bama's offense and watched how 4 teams either did beat them or came a whisker away from it by all doing the same thing.....then come into the SECCG and do LITERALLY THE EXACT OPPOSITE.
-Man seems to work, both for us and in stopping them. LETS GO ZONE
-Bringing a ton of pressure and blitzes rattles them and makes them super ineffective. LETS RUSH 3
-Well we have a great DL, let's just raise hell with those guys without pressure. FRICK THAT, LET EM SIT BACK AND CONTAIN
-But bryce isn't really a runner and would prefer not to leav DID YOU HEAR WHAT I SAID? CONTAIN
Like you could throw darts at a wall of differnet things to do as a defense and would probably come up with a grab bag of a better game plan than what we did. Then lo and behold the second half we scapped that abortion and did what we should've done from the start and whaddayaknow? We slowed them down considerably. That's why I at least am so irritated, I don't even really GAF about the QB thing since I accpeted since October that that's what we're doing. But the defense is just inedescribable.

I don't think you'll find a single person to argue with that.

Rhetorical question but Clemsons Heisman winning QB played better than Bamas Heisman winner. Would be nice to have a QB of either of their caliber.

So, are you admitting you listened to Austin Patreon and got bad info from him that shaped your narrative?
Posted on 12/8/21 at 5:23 pm to Peter Buck
Has nothing to do with my narrative. Wasn't Lawrence the MVP of that game?

First things first. Did you not repeat what Austin Patreon said about that we lost because of 3 consecutive 3 and outs lost us the Bama game?
