Even Paul Finebaum said coach Fisher was at the top of LSU's wish list. You all swung and struck out and now youre trying to save face by acting like you love the new hire when deep down you dont.

Woody had Jimbo as one of the first persons he called to gage interest, but it wasn't the only person he called. Kelly, or at least his agent, was in fact contacted the week after O was fired. That has now been confirmed by former LSU QB Jamie Howard who along with his son, 5-star QB Walker, both visited Notre Dame on 23 October when ND was playing USC. Others contacted early from what LSU media sources say include James Franklin, Luke Fickell.

I think those were the top 4. Stoops was probably the floor at 5.

Aranda, Napier, Lane Train and Campbell were not contacted. I don't think Mel Tucker was contacted

Kelly talked to Jamie and mentioned to Jamie that LSU had contacted him about the job to gage interest.

Woody, unlike Alleva, did not go all in for 1 guy like what happened in 2016 when it was Herman or bust, and LSU hired Coach O.

With respect to Riley, I think given that Trace Armstrong was the agent for both Riley and Kelly, and he also represents Woody, this suggest that Armstrong was using LSU as smoke to get Riley to USC and Riley to LSU as smoke for Kelly to LSU.

Now personally, Jimbo would have been an easier sell in 2015 when it was close to happening. At this point, he would have been a harder sell. Ed O with 50 scholarship players, 2nd and 3rd string and some walkons beat Jimbo's team that you all were counting on this year to get to Atlanta and CFP.
