It was obvious after 2019…
We all could see it…including you…

The situation was obvious. He got a championship and then mailed it in. I don't find his response to the buyout funny, but it isn't unexpected either. Aleva was dumb enough to sign him and give him a big buyout when he had no other offers for head coaching jobs. He could have done us a favor and left before destroying the roster.

His comments have been surprising. I didn't think he was half the head coach that Miles had been, even at his hire. But he was desperate for that job and it felt personal at the time.
This isn't the 1st time he has blown it off. And I honestly think his cavalier attitude keeps him from getting employed. He's going out like a buffoon.

Of course he would. He is a buffoon side show.
Whatever it took I’m fine with. Kelly being an upgrade is an understatement.

To be clear, I am not surprised by his attitude or what he told Aleva. I am surprised that he has openly told interviewers what was actually said in those meetings.

Right. I never questioned his love for the University. Now I do.

Miles was a bad head coach so this is saying A LOT.

Harsin felt the same way

No, he wasn't. He just didn't change when the rules did. His defenses were scary as hell.

His biggest two moves were getting Aranda to stay and getting Ensminger to be the OC. Without those two adults in the room, 2019 would have been a disaster. We would have lost every game 51-45.

He sucked and our teams just out talented most. Except for the bama games and teams with huge dlines (Bama, UGA for example) he could just use a power running game to overwelm teams.
His gameplan against bama in the BCS title game was atrocious...he basically went with the same gp we used in the game of the century a month earlier. Also ran Fournette into the strength of bama in Tuscaloosa when Henry went off and won the Heisman.

Best 12 years of any LSU era. Miles never lost a regular season OOC to anyone for 12 years. A stupid stat that Kelly will never touch. His defense was fast and smart. His running game was a bitch. It was Les Miles who was running the show when BAMA vs LSU went nuclear. From the game of the century to all the national attention it was must see for a decade.
Give BAMA credit, they just happened to be in the same division and conference.

LSU won Natties with two buffoons.
Had Saban not gone to the NFL, LSU would have likely won 3-4 more. I am beyond excited to see what Kelly can do over the next 5-10 years.

Yes, but he also brought in Joe Brady and Joe Burrow. Brady was essential in updating the overall offensive scheme and Burrow executed it perfectly.
Don't get me wrong, O was lucky as hell Burrow turned out to be as good as he was.

Who cares, he looks more the douche in all of this.

He is on a permanent vacation and pounding rando whores at his leisure. I, and anyone else with half a brain, would have done the same thing.

If Brian Kelly hadn't lost his first OOC at LSU, he would only have 11 more years to break the record. Not bad for a buffoon.

Les prior to Jarrett Lee was a pretty good coach. After Jarrett Lee all he decided he wanted to play 3 yards and a cloud of dust football in the spread era and relied on defense. He just ran out of defense in the end to keep the games close and win.

na he talked about it on another podcast or something
said and im paraphrasing
"every coach has a shelf life. sometimes that is 3 years, sometimes its 10 years and sometimes its just dictated by circumstances. My shelf life was 6 years, really prolly 5. Not everyone gets to ride off into the sunset. You do the best you can and try to leave a legacy."
look there are tons of things i did not like about O. but the number 1 thing that did him in was not even really mailing it in, it was Covid and then the changing landscape of CFB and his inability to adopt to it. Ed spent all his time since USC formulating a plan...that plan worked beautifully....then suddenly the world changed and he went from top of the foodchain to a dinosaur in a modern world...all within 2 years.
It happens. and he was honest in the exit interview with Woody. He was burned out, knew he couldnt turn it around and was willing to walk away with the money for the good of the university and obviously the good for his bank account.
in the end he did leave a legacy. I think the man is a buffoon in many ways and think he had no place leading a program like LSU, but he did do some good and he gets credit for 2019. those were his players, his coaches he put together and it worked beautifully for that time period. He gets to claim that legacy.
he also gets to have the legacy of having the 2 worst seasons in the last 2 decades.
and why wouldnt he be honest. he has always been honest to a big time fault, always.
