Does the whole state of Mississippi go for it on 4th down?

I was at the game yesterday and I couldn’t believe how many times Mike Leach went for it on 4th down, especially in his own territory. I remember Lane Kiffin doing the same thing all last year.

But but but he’s so smart and mysterious. Surely he’s won championship with his dgaf always winning demeanor.

For Kiffin, it really comes down to down and distance/yard line/time of game/score. So everything. He’s talked about it but it’s a very analytical approach. They have a GA or someone with a binder who is in his ear when they have the ball telling him what their book for that week says will give them the higher win percentage at that point in the game based on how many probable possessions are left, etc… (ie. if you get to 4th and less than 5 here, go for it, etc…) I’m sure he’s not unique in that but it’s what he does. Obviously, sometimes it’s just a gut feeling.

It's traditional to go for it on 4th down among the Landmass schools!

Sorry but Leach makes Kiffin look conservative. Leach is a fricking moron.
