When he's not busy writing about Auburn's vaccination numbers, Tom Green of AL.com can make himself useful and look up stats. He found the following:
1) Auburn's 60 points was the most ever scored by a first year Auburn head coach in his first game.
2) Auburn had the 2nd most total yards in an opener in program history. (613 yards).
3) Auburn had the most total yards of offense of any FBS team this past weekend.
4) Auburn's 60 points was the most scored in an Auburn opener in the past 50 years.
5) Only two FBS teams put up more points than Auburn this past weekend. Buffalo vs. FCS Wagner and Rutgers vs. Temple.
6) Auburn averaged 10.39 yards per play, making them 3rd nationally this past weekend. (Behind FIU and Coastal Carolina).
7) Auburn's 316 yards rushing was the best in an Auburn opener since Gus's 2013 opener vs. Wash St. Gus had 328 yards, vs. 316 yards.
8) Auburn's rushing defense puts them 2nd nationally at -3 yards. (To be fair, Georgia held Clemson to +2 yards which is pretty crazy).
As Harsin would say, it's pretty solid.

quote:This is just referencing Auburn first year head coaches, correct?
1) Auburn's 60 points was the most ever scored by a first year head coach in his first game.
quote:Again, talking about at just Auburn the last 50 years or is this for any FBS team?
4) Auburn's 60 points was the most scored in an opener in the past 50 years.
quote:Corey Grant had a 75 yard scamper in that game and he was the only one with 100+ yards (Tre Mason had 73). This year they got 316 with two 100+ yard RB and anyone who rushed at least twice averaged over 9 yards a carry...that's seriously impressive.
7) Auburn's 316 yards rushing was the best in an opener since Gus's 2013 opener vs. Wash St. Gus had 328 yards, vs. 316 yards.

quote:Is that a true stat or does that include sacks? I thought UGA held CU to +2 true rushing and negative rushing when doing the college thing of removing sack yardage from rushing stats.

Is that a true stat or does that include sacks? I thought UGA held CU to +2 true rushing and negative rushing when doing the college thing of removing sack yardage from rushing stats.
I wish they would compile that stat like the NFL does, and separate sack yardage on obvious passing plays into its own category.
