Because no real insider ever actually says what something is, only what something isn't....

I think he's playing it this way to create a storyline for the media to latch onto other than how the team has played the past 3 weeks. Its better for the players to not be praised for a week straight leading up to a big game.

I have thought since the odd way he dropped down that it's his ribs. Cracked or broken, who knows. But when he reached his arm way out looking to stiff arm, sucking air on carry #30, it probably shot some pain through his torso in an odd way that overwhelmed him at the moment.

I think his shoulder is secondary. His shoulder is always sore, he's had surgery on it, he's been carrying the ball a shite ton up the gut taking hits from LBs, and when he dove for the pylon, he landed on it.

Lastly, Gus is playing mind games. Not only does UGA still have to plan for him (catching passes, pass pro) but if you've ever played and there's the chance the star player for the other team might be out, you build up a little hope, you can't help it. Then when they walk out on the field with a shite-eating grin in pre-game warm-ups looking like a boss, you get a little FML feeling that can affect you in the first half.
