You’re missing the point. It’s not Nix’s fault. The playcalling doesn’t seem to align with his ability. Maybe Gus is holding back but it just seems like Nix has more in the tank than what we’re seeing

There has been nothing good about it. He’s completing passes that a raw Gatewood can throw.

What’s the point of using Nix?

Getting reps, obviously. It seems pretty clear that the coaches see a higher ceiling for Nix and they want to get him the reps to get him there.

I agree. But that could be due to slow playing him because he’s so new. Open up more of the playbook throughout the year as we grow as a team

Nix gets like 2 deep pass opportunities a game. Can’t blame him for getting excited and loading it up with mustard

Seems like Gus is hell bent on getting the run going. I think he’s going for a variant of the Marshall offense with Nix.

devalued? wtf does that even mean???

We don’t open up the offense for him even though he’s a skilled passer. His extended handoff passes are going to boost his completion percentage, but that’s all I see from him.

I don’t think it’s necessarily surprising that we’re not blowing open the pass game against Kent State when we’re scoring almost at will running.

Playcalling is a big part of why Nix, at times, seems like a bystander in this offense. And I don’t get it

They said before the season started that we are going to slowly open up and expand the playbook for Bo throughout the year. We’re not going to run every play for a guy whose eyes are still wide open

Especially when we don’t have to.
