Three and outs to start the games

We had three, three and outs to start this one, and we had a three and out to start the other games.

Someone asked the coach that at his presser. He seemed tongue tied with the answer. "Well we have scripted different things, we just gotta find a way".
That sure does not sound convincing, nor comforting.
