Whose fault is that?

I’m just saying Harsin’s squad this year is helluva more talented than 2015 and might not get to 7 wins. At least 2015 made sense.

And let’s not pretend this year’s squad is talented (13th in nation) because of Harsin

Are you serious? 2015 made absolutely no sense.

But it did? Talent wasn’t there. Jovon rarely played. Gus put all his marbles into JJ being some Heisman stud and the strategy backfired.

According to 247, AU was 7th most talented team in CFB in 2015

What 6 five stars played for us that year? Jovon barely played.

There was a drop off across the board after 2014. Lost CAP, Coates, NM, and several other studs on offense and defense.

Where did you get the impression that this year's version of the AU team is "helluva more talented"?

I provided a link supporting the #7 talent ranking for 2015.

Where's the link for your "13th in the nation"?

You provided a link that showed we had talent. What did talents of Prince Tega, Jovan, Kerryon, Slayton, Cowart, Holland, and others do on the field that year?

Look at the two deep and you tell me which team is more talented. Bo will get drafted. Tank drafted. Hunter drafted. Pappoe. McCreary. McLain. Etcetera etcetera.

It said 13 last week. I shared the link to the board.

2015 veterans :
Montravious Adams Jr
Josh Holsey
Rudy Ford
Carl Lawson
Jonathon Jones
Cassanova Mckinzey -linebacker had to become our only pass rush threat.. we were that bad.
Devaroe Lawrence
Shon Coleman
Ricardo Louis- best wideout, unfortunately.
Braden Smith
Melvin Ray
Marcus Davis
Tony Stevens
Kris Frost
Justin Garrett

Recruiting stars that didn’t mean a hill of beans that season
Kerryon
Byron Cowart
Tim Irvin
Nick Ruffin
Prince Tega
Jamel Dean
Deshaun Davis
Dontavious Russel
Dhaquille
Jovan (didn’t play as much as needed)
Too many to remember

Freshman that had a role:
Carlton Davis
Probably Dinson

Needed to play less:
Jeremy Johnson
Kris Frost
Tray Matthews
Michael Sherwood
Sean White
Too many to list

Under Muschamp we were 89th in the nation in yards given up per game. A REGRESSION from the year before. Muschamp complained about the lack of secondary depth and pass rushers. Our offense was a cluster from the 2nd half of the Louisville game on.

Sure that was on Gus, but I wanted him fired, too. 2015 was awful but it doesn’t make 2021 any less awful.

Carl only played in like half the games in 2015 as well?

2016 recruiting class was so initially awesome to be such a fricking dud

Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson were our top two signees and they worked out. After that only mixed success. Only Eli Stove, Brodarius Hamm, Kam Martin, and Daniel Thomas lasted.

The other 17 transferred out. Players like NCM, Nick Coe, and Kyle Davis. Real talent just gone.

Both years have highlighted the truth that development, roster management, and coaching are still more important than starchasing.

Unfortunately we may get to see what happens if you have none of those things. I hope I'm wrong.

I agree all of the above are critical but I believe recruiting is every bit as critical to success as well. All 4 in sympatico will bring success to Auburn. Recruiting brings in raw talent to be developed and coaching is critical to draw out the potential from all our players. Can’t skip any steps. It’s no mystery why the teams that can recruit the best are always at the top of the polls. So obviously I prefer we bring in players with high potential just like the rest of the SEC are bringing in. Capable recruiting also brings hope for the future during the bad years. While the 2015 season sucked, we still recruited the following class well which was quite the achievement considering how bad the season was, so hope remained. In hindsight the class lost all of its shine but when Auburn needed hope, it got it.
