what the hell are you talking about? We have two excellent point guards right now. Aden was a damn 5 star for fricks sake. Name another time Auburn has signed a 5 star PG.
We are not talking about HS rankings anymore. Its about what they do on court. Most games they are really good to great about not turning the ball over. They struggle with every other aspect though.

Like assists. They struggle there? How about ball handling? Do they turn it over a bunch? Do they control the game?

Or do they just suck overall because they lost....checks schedule.... a few games on the road?

Aden and Tre have been solid for us. I’m fine with thinking they are a year away from being good or great, that may be true. They are first and second year guys. But it’s not like they are busts or bad players (even though Aden is mostly bad right now, admittedly)

For the season:

Aden Holloway- 30.7%FG, 30.7% 3P, 2.9 assist, 0.3 steals. 8.4 PPG.

Tre- 50%FG, 40% 3P, 3.5 assist, 0.8 steals. 7.3 PPG

Denver- 40%FG, 36.7 3P, 1.4 assist, 0.7 steals. 7.8 PPG.

KD- 38.6%FG, 27.3 3P, 1.3 assist, 1.3 steals. 7.5 PPG.

Tre and Denver have decent shoot %, but both average less than 8 pts per game. Denver and KD also at least play some semblance of defense, but KD's shooting numbers are horrible again this year.

Our top 4 guards average 7.7 PPG on the season. If that's not bad, then you tell me what bad is.

Our guard play hasn't been great for for a few years, definitely not a position to take over the game.

Clearly we are running the offense through our bigs and forwards this year. Our guards are not being asked to do the scoring which is why their percentage is way down and scoring looks pedestrian at best.

Someone posted this on ON3, so credit to them for looking this up because I didn't but..

Our 3 point shooting this year is ranked 218th in the country, shooting 32.9% on season. 32.8% at home/33% away. Currently only shooting 1.5% better than last years team.

Tre’s efficiencies are incredible, thanks for pointing that out

Cool, so we have improved there. Part of the reason we have the second best offense we have had since 2000.

He's taken more than 6 shots in 6 game this year. On the surface level, yes those are good numbers but its easier to be efficient when you only shoot 3-4 times a game. He still only averages 7.3 PPG even with those %.

I'm officially in crazy town. Did you see where we rank in the country?

No, that is not how efficiency statistics work. You could just as easily say “it’s easier for him to be inefficient because of how few shots he takes.”

It’s incredible how much of a prisoner of the moment you are.

I'm talking about the season as a whole and for some reason you're still talking about the last game.

Our top 4 guards average 7.7 PPG. If that's not bad, then you tell me what bad is.

That is not by definition bad when you are playing to your strengths. They would average a lot more than that if Johni Broome was Horace Spencer & Jaylin Williams was Danjel Purifoy. It genuinely insane to me that you cannot understand this

Then where are their big games when Broome and Williams are struggling?

Off the top of my head the guards were great in the Baylor loss. There haven’t been too many games where Broome has struggled. Jaylin has had 5 bad games

Seems like half the folks in this thread weren’t around for Barbee and Lebo, and it shows.

I'm sure there are a lot of folks who never paid a lick of attention to our basketball team before CBP got here.
Those were some lean years with the exception of Sonny Smith and Cliff Ellis.

We probably wouldnt make the tournament with that lineup. I agree with jt, the guards have been weak on offense. The more our offense adjusts to making the bigs the focal point the less of a liability they are and thats why Bruce is hammering them about feeding the bigs.

Another thing: the tournament does a pretty good job taking away the Broomes. The tournament is where guards need to eat.
