JLee seems confident it’s an Auburn/UCONN battle. They knocked his visit out of the park and brought in his grandmother who he hasn’t seen since the COVID shutdown.

Good deal. The 247 folks think he could rise a bit in the rankings

I know he has some family up there but still far away from home. What are our chances with Carlyle? Do Castle and Carlyle know each other?

I know they've visited together but not sure if they're close outside of that. It seems like the general feeling was that Auburn felt good about where they stand with Carlyle, Castle, and Collier.

I think we are in a good position with Castle & Carlyle.
I don’t think we are in a good position with Collier however. He seems to be wide open. He recently visited Bama and it seemed to like it.

Yeah Collier is definitely the one most likely to end up elsewhere right now. I’m curious to see what they’re expecting for that class. It will become a numbers by then with us presumably filling up the roster with the current class.

I imagine Auburn is a favorable transfer destination as well given Pearl’s coaching style. Wouldn’t be surprised to see us continue to utilize that avenue

Apparently we received Westry’s signature today. He is in!!

JLee put something out today predicting Castle to UConn. He thinks him and Westry being very similar is a big factor.
Could be sour grapes and UConn just beat us for him, but I choose to believe that we are to the point as a program of being so stacked that we are scaring off high end talent because I need some positive vibes around Auburn sports right now

I think if we are in the final 2 of anyone, and we lose out, its NOT going to be b/c we are so stacked. We just lost out, period.
But as long as we are getting high 4*s and a consistent amount of 5*s, then we are good with our future in recruiting.
And, if we do lose some, then we just go plunk a transfer 5 and 4 star like we did with KD and Kessler.

JGT still thinks Castle to Auburn. Unfortunately Lee knows recruiting better.

I totally agree. We are not really stacked (except this year). We might lose Castle because his family actually is friendly with some of the UCONN staff and the NYC area is his second home. However, we already lost JWalker, NSmith, LJohnson, Scoota and others. There is either some new factor negatively impacting our recruiting (NIL?) or its just bad luck. We should have a better idea in the coming months.
We might be in the lead for Carlyle. Not looking good with Collier though.

Aren't all these C players we are recruiting from GA?
Certainly we can get at least 1 of the Cs, as Pearl always gets a good one from GA these days.
And I don't see NIL doing us in right now, at least with these guys. But if anyone knows, it's the insiders of Auburn BB. Where are they? Talk to us...

IMO
N.Smith - NIL + local kid
B.Miller - NIL
JWalker - personal reasons (has family in Houston and Houston is a good program but NIL could be a real factor)
Castle - personal reasons (has family near NYC and UCONN recruited him really hard)
Scoota - business decision (GLeague)
JLondon - outrecruited by UVA?
Different reasons but I still don't like this at all...

ESPN just put out an article ranking every team based on pro talent. Auburn came in 3rd after Duke and Gonzaga
Any chance you could post the ranking, or at least what they say about Auburn, for those of us who don't have ESPN+ ?

2022 Top 100 players: PF Jabari Smith (No. 3), SF Allen Flanigan (No. 31), C Walker Kessler (No. 37)
Other NBA scouting targets: PG/SG K.D. Johnson
Prospects for overseas or other pro leagues: PG Wendell Green Jr., C Jaylin Williams, SF/PF Devan Cambridge
Bruce Pearl's attractive style and track record of player development has helped him lure two McDonald's All Americans in Smith and the UNC transfer Kessler, despite the presence of a not-yet-resolved NCAA investigation. Smith has shown early fireworks that might warrant consideration for the No. 1 pick if he continues to evolve in SEC play, while the 7-foot-1 Kessler's combination of size, shooting and shot-blocking instincts will always be attractive to NBA teams. The question marks surrounding the return of potential first-rounder Flanigan from an Achilles tendon injury will help determine how high this team's ceiling is in March as well as the evolution of bowling ball-like scoring machine Johnson as a decision-making combo guard. -- Givony
