No.

Okoro easily has a higher one. Watch how well 23 passes on drives to the bucket. Watch how instinctive 23 is on defense.

I like Samir but he is not on 23’s level.

Vandy is certainly improving under the new HC, but I agree they aren’t a good team yet. What we saw was two of the best scorers in the conference taking over a game.

I thought Samir did as well as he could against Nesmith. He was shut down for the majority of the game and in the last 10 minutes just started shooting and was making them go down. It seemed like most of his shots were not good looks, but when a guy like that gets hot there’s no such thing as a bad shot.

Samir was horrendous, seriously, HORRENDOUS on defense last night. He kept getting switched onto Saben Lee in the 1H and Saben was blowing by him with almost zero resistance. Then he was getting absolutely torched by Nesmith late second half. Gotta be in the shooters pocket and he wasn’t fighting hard through screens.

He also had a terrible night offensively and not just because he wasn’t shooting the rock well. 90% of his passes were terrible and was really hurting the offense. Just an all around dud of a game.

Now, I love Samir and he has been the best all around player on this team for much of the year. But man he was bad tonight. I was taken aback by how much he was hurting us on both ends.

Samir is the glue.

His mouth game is impressive...he was chopp'n at the refs all night. When he got a questionable foul called on him in the 1st half on a defended drive last night he held that info after barking a bit then hammered that ref in the 2nd half on one of his drives when the guy let them play. I bet he researches his opponents for trash talking.

Samir shut Nesmith down for most of the game. Yes, Nesmith hit some late but good offense will always beat good defense. Those were some deep contested threes. And come on, no one could stop Saben last night. Doughty wasn’t perfect by any means but he did a great job on the leagues top scorer for majority of the game.

No one could stop Saben last night because he was getting lightly contested layups at the rim for most of he first half, largely because he was blowing by Samir with little resistance.

Yeah, that’s why I said probably. The way Okoro is coming along, hard to argue.

He blew by everyone that guarded him or switches on him, not just Samir. Still not good, but Saben was in his bag last night.

If we see them again in the tourney I’d like to see Okoro on Neysmith, Samir on Pippen Jr, and Jvon on Lee when all 3 are in the game. Jvon was bad on the perimeter last night too. Good learning experience against 3 talented guards.

Lee and Nesmith were a combined 7-9 from three. You have to play closer when they’re shooting like that, which typically leave you vulnerable on the drive. I was much more concerned as our lack of help side defense.

Bama jacks up a ton of 3s and top 6 in country in ppg. We play them in Tuscaloosa next week. Bama would love to deliver to us our first loss.

They are a terrible matchup for us. I fully expect petty to have the game of his career.

Perimeter defense has to pick up to where it was for sure. The good thing is their crowd is shite and don’t deserve good basketball.

The getting to the hoop came first and opened up the three later on. Our guards were letting them get downhill so easily. You're right in that Anfernee was really late a couple of times.. but most of the time our guards weren't able to funnel them to help at all. You have to at least offer resistance but only Okoro was last night. It was an embarrassing effort.. BUT it was only one game. I won't be worried about it unless it happens a couple more times.
