And then during the tournament time you will be complaining about injuries and depth.

Not once have I complained about injuries or depth. I've pushed back on the injuries/fatigue excuse people for weeks/months now. I've noted our lack of depth when it was still being touted as a strength but it wasn't the reason we lost Saturday. We lost because we got completely careless with the basketball in the 2nd half, our starting guards shot like anus, and Walter Clayton Jr. went off. Having a better 8th and 9th man on the bench wasn't changing either of those things. The guys we needed to step up didn't.

ETA: For all the talk about Florida's bench they played 3 guys for 49 minutes and scored 15 points, we played 3 guys for 48 and scored 13 and that's with Pett having one of his worst games of the season.

So what are you crying about? Houston and Duke benches played even less than ours and Florida's. So we had arguably the best Final 4 of all-time and only Duke played more than 8 guys in their Final 4 game and they had guys that logged a total of 6, 5, and 2 minutes. So even mighty Duke with all their recruiting prowess basically had 7-8 guys they could count on.

You're pissing your pants about teams having 15 players when I'm showing you the top teams go 8, maybe 9, deep at best.

Florida played 1 backup guard, Houston played 1 backup big. Our situation is not unique.

There is a clear opportunity to build serviceable depth and youre like nah im good.

Even if you sign 14 and only play 7 at least you signed as much of a talent pool needed to play the best 7. That's like suggesting we need 5 OL so Freeze is a retard for wanting 15 on the roster

Yes jang, you're right if we can sign 15 great players then i am all for it. If the choice is spreading out our limited resources over 10 or 15 I'm saying it's more important, and feasible, to accumulate quality over quantity. Why do you ask a question then get mad when someone answers it?

Just to clarify the discussion, would you consider Hudson and/or Scott as “serviceable depth”?

Not really. Players that you dont have to minimize in the tournament to win.

Sign the best team we can, use our resources to focus on the top 8-9 and fill the rest with the best we can without expecting much.

this is where I see a potential problem, I would say the staff signed those two players as 9, 10 or 11…and that’s when we had 13 spots. If you slide them to the back end of a 15 man roster, where the heck do you get the money to get good (not starter quality) at slots 9-12? I’m worried the money can only really afford 8 top players.

And you can always pull in back end players in the portal so no big deal to have 14 scholarship guys.

If I was a player I would go somewhere to play then look to transfer my jr and sr yr
