And for good reason. Besides the fact they both play DE, they are very different IMO. Lawson is stronger and has faced much better competition until now. He may not have as much potential, that remains to be seen. But if given a choice between either as a true freshman I will take Carl everyday and twice on Sundays!

Revisiting this one.. how many TFL and sacks did Carl have at the end of the year?

He had 4 sacks but I believe most of his playing time came towards the end of the year while he was not at the front of the rotation at the beginning of the year

That is what I remember but I could be wrong. Haven't fact checked that one

If he was a starting end he would've broken the record

I think that argument definitely could be made. Especially with Dee Ford opposite him. We just need to improve our DT pass rush this year. Gabe come on strong and Adams with an offseason of S&C and year experience should be solid

Carl was getting chipped pretty good to end last year, even with Dee Ford on the opposite side... he won't have that kind of protection next year, unless somone steps up.

Lawson can be an all around better DE than we've had in a while, when factoing in pass rush and run stopping... but I seriously doubt he breaks the 7.5 mark.

Are you talking about 2014? I think 7.5 is about right in 2014. We will have Lambert around 5.5-6 maybe Owens with 4.5.

Third and long should be interesting: Lawson, Daniel, Lambert, Owens
