we should put seats on the green monster. would make Plainsman park a destination place to watch a game in college baseball.

would like something better than this but its the only pic ive seen to somewhat show what it would look like.

This has been discussed ad nauseam. It's not really feasible for a couple reasons, we can't build back due to the substation, we can't build up without completely tearing down the existing structure and wall, any seats would require either being accessible or an accessibility waiver which is difficult to get.

If you look up the term landlocked in the dictionary, you’ll see a picture of Plainsman Park.

I'd love for the baseball field to move where beard eaves sits when they finally demo it.

Any clue on when Parker Hall and BEM will be leveled? Previous AU 2020 plan had Haley Center as a demo

The word on BEM is that it was built too close to the new rec center or swim and dive complex so it can’t safely be demolished.

Parker Hall is already gone I believe.

Parker is still standing. Allison was demoed. BE can be demoed but not with explosives. Will be a pain to tear down.

Miss the days of backing trucks down the hill in center and right, grilling and drinking. Athletic dorms are nice but selfish me doesn't like it.

Beard Eaves will be destroyed when replacement classrooms, storage and offices are built. Part of it will happen when the football complex is built and all remaining sports that don’t have their own space will move into the vacated space at the old football offices.

The same thing goes for Haley center. As new buildings are built the existing schools that occupy Haley will move out such as the school of education will move to where the Hill Dorms are currently being torn down. Haley center and Beard Eaves have the most sq/ft of any other buildings on campus. It’s one of the main reasons of all the construction on campus. Both are in dire need if replacement and both require a ton of on going asbestos abatement by facilities. It’s why it’s taking so long.

Also Beard Eaves is currently on of the largest storage buildings on campus. You wouldn’t believe how much stuff is Jambed into empty rooms there.

They are tearing down the Hill dorms now.

I think Parker and Funchess are next on the chopping block. Got to have places for the people in Haley and BEMC to move to before you can tear those down.

I have heard that the main tower of Haley will come down first, with the four quadrants lasting a while longer.

Not sure how they could destroy the main tower without tearing down the quadrants.

Most of my classes were in Funchess. That building smells awful. I wonder what year it was built? 1940?

Had no idea the hill was coming down already. Sad (albeit necessary) day.

1961

I was going to say 1960. My Mother worked in the Agronomy and Soils department in Funchess Hall, then moved to the 4th floor of Haley in Education when I was at AU and beyond.
