Appreciate the advice people. I think this will require educating a few close individuals about how things work today as opposed to three years ago. It’s amazing how clueless some people are without being specific with you guys.

I'd be happy to grab lunch one day. My architecture company is having me start an office in Nashville and will be moving the family up in June. My wife and I are also in deliverance and inner healing ministry (the crazy kind) and are at a place where we rely on God for everything and every decision...it's been a wild ride.

I’d gladly meet with you or Boro in Nash or Bwood.

Hey Man, If it ill help we can both go out and wear our lucchese's to the CrowsNest eat some wings and watch some basketball and talk about things and people and make fun of bammers.
Seriously, hate to hear that and hope/pray for the best!

I got band practice tomorrow night but I'm around this weekend.
Does this board have DM's? I can't seem to find it.

I'll be out of town taking the girl back to school but will be back mid next week. I'm up for grabbing a drink anytime after I get back.

I hope you don't take offense at this... not my intention at all. However, sometimes our dependance on faith gets in the way of our health. What you described sounds like clinical depression to me. No, I'm not a doctor, but I struggled with depression for 5 years not wanting to admit there was something happening inside of me. Stress and work overload were the triggers in my case. Everyday felt like the worst day of my life. I tried to cope with alcohol, but of course that really made it worse. I ignored all of it until hitting bottom and quitting the job.
That's when I couldn't avoid it anymore and sought out help. I was scared about getting the help though. I was raised in the "old South" where this stuff was completely ignored by all of my family. Since, I've come to find out my grandmother, aunts and father all had bouts with depression, but the dumbass stigma that goes along with it kept them from seeking help. Let me repeat... it's a dumbass stigma perpetuated by morons.
4+ years now since quitting that job and getting help and I can't even remember just how bad it felt. I don't wake up in the morning with the feeling of the pressure of the world resting on my chest. My days aren't ruined by one minor thing going wrong. Sure, I still have occasional times of depression, but it's very infrequent and lasts for a couple of days at most.
You've probably seen/heard the ads on tv, internet and radio, but the link below is a good place to start. It can be as simple as a phone call or video call... and no judgement. It's worth one phone call even if there's only the smallest chance it helps.
Anyway... sorry for the longwinded autobiography. :) I hope things get better for you.

quote:Great advice. Only thing I would add is, be open to that trusting friend/family member giving constructive criticism. All to often, people only want to bend the ear of a "yes" man, when what they really need is caring and objective advice.
It’s difficult to make any suggestions based on the info given as too many questions to dial down. Doing it here may not be the right way.
Borotiger’s suggestion may be a good one, or your clergyman or spouse.
You need to discuss this out loud and get some direction.
My first reaction is always address those directly causing the frustration. Most may not realize they are causing it, but me saying that may not be the best advice for your situation. Prayers just the same and hope you can work through this.
I will say I made a big career change because of some issues out of my control but it brought more peace.
Please go talk to someone you trust you can be open with. Sometimes it just helps to vent and then the issue is not as big as it seemed to begin with. Best of luck Luke.

Cut off friends/family that burden you… that’s their problem, not yours. Make the wife go talk to her friends or go to the gym, she’s made for enjoyment not complaining.
Don’t over extend yourself, pay the bills, simplify, exercise and watch every dollar.
My father has only the cable, water and electric bill… he plays golf 4 days a week and drives a beater truck, and says he loves life more than ever in his 60’s because he has no debt or responsibility.
Hang in there brother, you’re not alone

Yep same here. I know exactly the type of family you're describing and have witnessed this behavior first hand.
