JUCO guys are different. You really don’t want many of them ever. I think it’s typically more welcomed to take rental transfers when you’ve got a new coach.
We kind of have to right now with the roster being where it is and we’ll have to take a lot of transfers the next class cycles too. Then hopefully it’s just the top end type of impact guys from the portal

JUCO by way of UGA and UF. I don’t have to explain the difference. Those aren’t JUCO guys nowadays

Every JUCO kid is by the way of somewhere. Just like a transfer.
And I know the difference.

Not true. Most come right from high school due to grades or no/poor offers. Always has been. Some high profile JUCO guys fooled people.
Cam and Nick wouldn’t even get kicked off their teams nowadays, let alone go to Blinn. If this was a decade ago (when we took Cam and Nick) you’d be right. But that’s looooong gone.

I’m guessing Keionte Scott will be our best juco in a while. Since maybe Devaroe Lawrence.
There have been plenty of Jeffrey Emba juco recruits in between…
Or maybe Sal Cannella even though I thought he was average

Name me a significant kid who played for a SEC program through JUCO who went to JUCO straight out of High School

And I was talking Cam and Nick. Garden City CC is where its at baw

I can’t name any jucos from either category that started anywhere in the SEC that have any noteriety in the last decade. Which was my only point. Guys like Cam and Nick don’t need to go to JUCO anymore. Tony Mitchell is still taking classes at Bama and will be suiting up next fall after they announce some sort of bogus rehabilitation effort
As Janga said, Scott is maybe our best example? And he was right from HS
Original point was that we don’t want too many from JUCO ever. That was true then and now. We should always look for the exceptions but those guys are not at all the rule

Stetson Bennett was a walk-on at UGA Before going to JUCO. So we should add him to the short list since we’ve been talking about UGA QBs most of the day

So is Larry Nixon going to be next?

JLee said Tuesday or Wednesday depending on when he’s able to notify coaching staffs.
The other guy I’d track is JSU WR Shane Hooks. Auburn might like him over MLC from colorado

OT Brandon Mosley is another guy from that JUCO only before Auburn category IIRC. He was drafted
Nick Fairley was a HS > JUCO > Auburn guy too

Spring transfers:
LB Larry Nixon - N Texas
WR Jyaire Shorter - N Texas
OL Jaden Muskrat - Tulsa
WR Caleb Burton - Ohio State
QB Payton Thorne - Michigan State
EDGE Jalen McLeod - App State
It seems like Hooks from Jackson State would be the last possible addition

We’ve went from 6-7 wins to 8-9 the past two weeks.

We’re going to be bumping 85 scholarships. That’s awesome

We’re at 82 right now so possibly 3 more additions if we want to take 3 more guys. Seems like Hooks might be number 83 and maybe we can reward some walk-ons with the last 2.
