Have you been to Hot n Hot, Bottega, or Ocean? They are very good. The market I worked for got our seafood from the same vendor that a ton of New Orleans restaurants got their stuff from. Not that there aren't places in New Orleans that gets better stuff, cause I know there are, but the idea that they are selling some vastly superior product just isn't true.

Heard of them just havent been yet. I went to Bottega the other night for Vday, but the cafe part not the dining area. Fish was meh. The others you listed are pretty expensive.

New Orleans just has so much more to choose from in terms of great seafood restaurants for a reasonable price. Some of them do actually get fresh seafood delivered the same day they were caught from the commerical fishermen. I understand what you are saying though I would freeze fish that I catch and it still tastes just as fresh whenever I decide to cook them.

Completely agree. Definitely more options and usually cheaper (for obvious reasons). Last time I went to Bottega, I had a sea bass dish I would put up against any restaurant. It was phenomenal, but to each his own.

Definitely check out Hot n Hot too. Chris Hastings is the head chef, I know him decently well. He beat Bobby Flay on iron chef about a year ago. He is the man.

Do you not eat any fish or just "fishy" fish?

I've not met a sole that doesn't like seared ahi tuna drizzled with a sesame or teriyaki glaze. On a completely unrelated note, I know what's for dinner tonight

I do not eat anything that lives underwater.

I espically dislike spiders like crab and lobster.
