I’m seriously smiling that you think what may set a WR Coach apart from another might be some secret technique. What a silly barometer.

Do you really think that is what sets apart one coach from another at any position, or HC to HC? A secret technique

That is exactly what he is arguing against.

I’m laughing that this is what some on here think. I believe the opposite.

Also, comparing a HC to a position coach is silly.

Any coach bruh. Which coach has a secret technique that you are asking for an example of? That’s laughable.

You understand that coaching, in and of itself is a skill right? Do you think every calculus teacher in America is the same since they teach the same thing? There some much nuance in coaching that it’s not about some secret technique, it’s the way in which you relay the message to the players. It’s how disciplined you make sure they are in their craft.

The secret technique is no secret at all: stack up highly talented players that have the “it” factor. And that goes for all positions.

I think we had at least 7(?) 4 star or better receivers on our team this year. We had 2 guys over 500 yards

Why is he arguing against that? I haven’t seen one person claim a successful WR coach has secret drills.

I don’t disagree you need highly skilled and talented players coming in but a good position coach at WR better be able to do a lot more than recruit.

Yelling to run routes fast and block hard isn’t as complicated as teaching calculus. Recruiting elite players to go to your school over another, now that’s a more advanced skill.

Oh, please. How many of those guys were top 100 recruits? Top 150? Top 200?

Kobe Hudson is the only guy that comes to mind and he wasn’t a top 100 player.

I do realize but that isn’t what sets good coaches apart is my argument and not sure why you were asking for it for someone to prove their point. There is plenty to still coach up a 5 star on and being just a good recruiter that puts a ball through the jug machine is not going to cut it.

What do you think position coaches do at practice all day? You’re saying that receiver coaches do nothing, and don’t actually “coach”. fricking stupid. Say less.

Exactly. What the hell is a 4 star anyway? Lol. I’m taking his 7 as is, but 7 players that are 4 stars in 5 or 6 years of classes is nothing to brag about.

I’d argue the difference maker in a good and great coach comes down to 2 things:
1. the amount of work
2. Ability to move to teams that benefit their career
3. Luck

A lot of coaching is luck, it is. To look great you have to choose the right paths and have the right players. But the best coaches do those 2 things over and over and that helps to create 3.
