As much as I love Bill Clark I'd rather have Odom. He seems to be the lower risk.

Muschamp can coach defense plus he gives us something else that we desperately need: The ability to recruit and sign defensive talent. We need that as much right now as we need a great DC. Muschamp fits the bill on both of those needs.

CGM notes from Outback teleconference earlier

quote:

Follow along here for live updates. Malzahn says he's not sure who will coach the defense in the bowl game. Once Auburn makes a new hire on the coordinator, then the rest of the staff will be addressed. "Hopefully we can hire someone in the near future. But I'm not putting a date on it." Malzahn says he won't get into any details about Will Muschamp or whether or not the Tigers have contacted him. "We're just looking for right fit.

I want Kevin Greene. I don't give a shite if he has no DC experience. His LBs always are legit

I would love to get KG or Takeo on staff, intensity is what we often lack in my opinion and both of them are intense as any players you will ever see

You can add Miss St DC Geoff Collins to the short list of names Gus has talked to about the DC job per JGT.

Do Not Want. Surely we can do better than this. Gus needs to nail this hire and find someone who can straighten out this abortion of a defense that we had this season.

Nevermind the fact that MF Spikes has 0 coaching experience. Greene has at least has NFL LB coaching experience. I would love for him to be the LB coach under Boom but He just stepped away from coaching and plans to raise his kids til they are in college before coaching again. No I don't know the kid's ages.

EL i wasn't meaning as DC, and i'm sure Greene would see it different if it were AU instead of a pro gig and Spikes knows more about linebacking than 99% of linebacker coaches out there.

Auburn has good schools. He should come coach here. Get Takeo as a "grad assistant" pretty sure they would t have to recruit kids would just show up

Unless he talked to him earlier it doesn't seem like Gus has found someone he likes or is doubting getting WM.

As for MSU DC, his pass defense was as bad as ours.

My bad.

That would be nice but I have no way of knowing that. There have been many great players in all sports that turned out to be not so good coaches. With that said, if we get Boom and he is comfortable bringing in TKO in as LB coach then I'm all for it.

Exactly sometimes name recognition on sheer intensity mean more to recruits than experience time coaching

And Takeo is an easy sell as a coach to a recruit. All he has to do is say I started in the NFL for x number of years. If anyone knows how to get you to the league and make you successful it's me.

Agreed. Would be one dud of a hire and would make me think we struck out with 4 or 5 other candidates.

It's just now come out that Gus talked to Collins. He could have easily talked to him early last week as he did with Odom.
