No, don't get me wrong. What Pearl and our players over the last 5 or 6 years have done is unbelievable and fun as hell to watch. I know our bball history and it's still somewhat surreal to hear our program mentioned as a top tier program. Pearl did that from nothing. I understand and appreciate that.

I know we had to pay Pearl to cement him as our coach for the future. We can separate our bball program from our football program in this thinking, but I just hate the idea of how the business works. I hate that we have to give 10s of millions of dollars to keep a coach, and most of the time that has burned us. Hope it doesn't this time.

I just know most would do a 180 in their thinking if we struggle a year ir two.

I'll sit here and enjoy the ride while it lasts. Hopefully that will be for many years.

Why do you care how much money he makes?

NIL money is going to cause more disruptions in athletic budgets than whether you have high paying coaches to manage financially.

There's plenty of money for a Football HC and BB HC to go around, as many donors are split on their interests and [sport they support.

Pearl has more than once driven the financial gains upward with this BB program, so I don't worry about it.

Because it bring around things like NIL. Remember when stipends for players was the discussion? I think the amount of money flying around in college sports makes the players feel entitled to much more.

The idea if stipends was trashed very quickly for players making six figures through NIL.

I feel the same way about entertainers making generational wealth. I don't think I feel this way out of jealousy, I just think what they do isn't worth that much. Of course I know sports generates tons of money and that money has to go somewhere.

I'm sure I'm in the minority, and that's perfectly fine.

And like I said, schools give these huge contracts to coaches without insurance. Buyouts are dumb to me. I like the idea of bonuses for season achievements.

Where did you make up this shite?

If I heard right on Jox, Pearl now makes 5.4 million a year.

The forth highest paid NCAA basketball coach

He gets a 250;000 a year raise per year

8 year contract with an option to extend.

Right now Pearl is on track to make more than Hardin.

Nowhere near 10s of millions to keep a coach.

Meantime, the arena is sold out and raises the bar on a sport making money.

Not one coach, sells Auburn like Pearl does ….not one.

He's a better coach than Harsin.
