Whenever ESPN hypes us up, we fall on our face. We (our coach) can’t handle the pressure it seems. This is the difference between us and our 2 biggest rivals who can handle the expectations and cash in with elite recruiting after being hyped over and over and over on ESPN. It’s a positive feedback loop and if we can’t turn this around, we will continue to fall further behind them.

There's only been one time since Pat Dye that we started preseason ranked in the top ten and finished in the top ten. I compiled the stats not too long ago. I'll see if I can find the post.

Multiple top ten preseason rankings in the 80s that finished with postseason top ten rankings. But since 1990, we've fallen hard when preseason expectations were high every time except 2006.

*1994 we started the season #11 and finished #9. Doesn't count in the top ten history but at least we started high and finished high.

I was referring more along the lines of hyping our DL while never mentioning the LSU D - Line. Nobody gave LSU a shot. Nobody. This is exactly why Oeaux had the team yelling “Frick them.” They were sick of hearing it and their frustrations were coming out after hearing all our hype.
