Agreed and I’ve also been concerned here. We seem to mostly be in the market with young coaches that have short track records.
We’ve seen that work out, though. Caddy and Zac are two examples, though being alumni doesn’t make for a direct comparison maybe.

Sure, but that means you have an opportunity to use that spot for an ace recruiter. So while the OC may not be incredibly meaningful from an X’s and O’s standpoint, there’s major opportunity to inject some juice on the staff there

For one thing, as Jones said, need a solid recruiter here.
For two, Freeze is considering giving up playcalling. So, yes, it'll probably still be HIS offense, but this spot is potentially more important than it has been in his coaching past.
If he does it right, we'll get a good recruiter that is qualified to call plays, there -- so if Hugh does decide to make that decision, he can.
If he does it wrong, we're in for a few years of Gus Malzahn's Patented Playcalling Circus

I don't hate the OL hire at all. He's very young and already pretty well respected. Kiffin didn't just randomly pick that guy. I think he was a GA at Bama when Kiff was there.
