Who would you rather have a beer with? Muschamp or Freeze?
Why do you immediately say he is less likable? Seems to me that fits right into my hater criteria.
We all know Freeze screwed up big time, just like everyone else.
I like both Muschamp and Freeze. Freeze can be a little over the top (southern, etc). Muschamp can be nutty crazy (not real desirable). But on the whole, they both would be fun to talk with. Go watch some of his old Ole Miss locker room videos. You're just a hater if you think those aren't kind of cool.

Jay would have done the same stuff. ADs change but things stay the same.
Jay did get Bruce though.

Worth mentioning we don’t really know our list.
That said, if we’re looking for a proven head coach with SE ties then we’re always going to be picking from a list of sitting coaches having success with already large salaries or former coaches that are available due to particular circumstances. Kind of a tough spot to draw from if we’re being honest
Nobody wants to take a stab at a coordinator yet that’s what we probably should be doing.

If you were being unbiased and had options would you go to the school that is going to fire you in one year or try if they don't like something about you or you don't exceed expectations right off. That can cost you a career all together or set you back 5 to 10 years. Yeah you have some money but some like coaching just as much. Also who you going to put on a Great list? If they are settled in a big school or not looking to coach anymore they ain't coming.
Why don’t we have a better list?

look how Kirby has turned out... is there anyone out there that reminds you of him? i think Lanning has that with experience under Kirby (though not as much as Kirby had under Saban) plus a year of HC experience at a pretty high level progam. anyone else come to mind? that's all i can think of
another similar example to kirby is venables. venables took the leap this year after staying under dabo for a long time, similar to what kirby did with saban. venables has struggled in his first year as HC but so did kirby. it will be interesting to see if he rights the ship as kirby has. he did have a lot of challenges with a lot (at least i think) of his players leaving through the portal to follow lincoln to usc. just thinking out loud is all.

And maybe Kirby taught Lanning how to cheat his arse off like Saban did him.

The Lanning comparison is a legit case where you can gripe over the power brokers and their hiring logic. Football wise the guy seems to have it all, and fits the UGA UA template. So it might suck that the power brokers were already decided on Freeze.
But even then, he has no where the experience of Kirby,
and it would have taken an arm and a leg to pay for this lack of experience.

lanning is only making 4.6-5.1MM per year over the course of his contract. let's give him 6-6.5MM so he has to say yes, and the extra we were going to use on Kiffin to spend on assistants. why not.

for sure i get that. i guess it boils down to which gamble are you willing to take.

I'm just ready for it to be over and the staff together and see if we can salvage a class and load up on needs in the portal.

Lanning had the $14 million buyout. Plus, maybe he just didn't want to leave an employer after a year, after employer took a chance on him.

Cincinnati is targeting Meyer. I will go nuclear if a non P5 school hires him, and we get freaking Freeze.
