Deion has already led the HBCU’s to the promise land. It’s now time to bring him hAUme.

It’s not us you gotta worry about. Jimmy Rane wants freeze, and after thinking about it yesterday, I’m not that opposed. If he can coach.

rumor was, Jimmy wanted Houston Nutt to replace Tubs in '08

he's a hell of an entrepreneur, but I seriously doubt his ability to pick head football coaches

Go on…

Edit: Can any of these 3 unify the Auburn powers and fans to support their coach because they think he’s a great coach going forward. I think all 3 will bring discontent. Freeze moreso from an off the field perspective.

If our interim AD really did screw Muschamp with tix (why are we that petty) you can scratch his name off. Plus his offenses sucked.

If we want the Auburn fans and PTB to row their boat in the same direction either go get Deion( fans will love him and boosters can STFU), or stay local and bring in Coach G. Dude has had the most success putting Auburn players in the league, he helped Malzahn represent Auburn well, and he preaches toughness and love for his players. He can be our Sam Pittman. He won’t be a home run hire but he will be a stability hire.

I co-sign with Freep and Corch there.

And your reason is?

Let's be realistic for a minute. What big name coach is going to leave, to come to Auburn with our current reputation? Take Aranda and Kiffin for example. I do not expect either of them to retire at their current job, but jobs open up every year at places with big budgets and huge support. They know this and so does their agents. Auburn will have to get their house in order first, before being able to lure a big name away. That means we will get a coordinator or a coach from a small school with a history of success.

I mean, yeah, among other things.

On field is a concern too.

I am not a fan of bringing Freeze on board. He has more upside than Muschamp and Steele though.

None of them have upside to me.

Dude does a few insurance commercails, wins a few games in a conference that is really bad, and some of our fans go full retard, and want him has our next coach. A guy with only a couple more years of college head coaching than I have, and I've never coached football in my life! Hell, UAB is head and shoulders above Jackson State, and you want that guy leading an SEC West program that plays Alabama and UGA every fricking year?

Yep, I know, but so did Urban.

I have no idea what's going on with him. Cancer?

I seriously doubt the BOD makes the call to hire two coaches in a row, outside of the region.

Not that I'm advocating it, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's Muschamp or Steele. Trying to get inside the mind of those who stroke those checks, they will want to get someone who will shore up recruiting, are known amongst those who follow college football, and can coach at least one side of the ball. None of those things can be said about who we currently have.

Downvote away but the outlook is so grim right now, I would sell my soul to the devil and go all in on Urban. Big cash, incentives, high risk/high reward. He wouldn't do it with the competition or PTB, BoT wouldn't support and he's not creed worthy, it won't happen, Thamel said he's staying put on Fox.

He is not a good person, but I would take a 2-3 year spurt of very competitive accelerated program building and gaining ground on Bama/UGA, NIL etc, with an inevitable bad national scandal or two ending in order to stock the cupboard. Would it really be worse than it is now?
